How cute!
The Orange Bird...
Treasures..
So last week we found this store that is wall to wall (to wall) disney. Pretty much anything past or present can be found here.. From Soda bottles from the 100 years of Magic (and DAK's opening in 1998)
to old Mickey toiletries
and hundreds of Mickey figurines
What I "needed" a pre-opening park map from DAK. The Dec 26 99 to Jan 1 00 DAK map (AND it has Tarzan on it) the MK guide map from 1988, the postcard of one of the very first Disney shirts I ever bought at the park and just a few pins...

God Speed Discovery
This weekend is also Discovery's last weekend at Kennedy having rolled from the VAB to the mate/demate device where it'll be attached to a 747 and flown to the Smithsonian Tuesday Morning
Where Discovery should have been (It's hiding behind the trees due to winds not allowing the mate today)so no final glimpse...
Continued..
Jim Lovell (Apollo 8 & 13)
Dick in front of the Mission Patch.. (Well Kind of..)
Ed Mitchell (Apollo 14- Backup for 16)
Fred Haise (Apollo 13- Backup for 16)
Charlie Duke (Apollo 16)
The Panel Discussion was nice despite the delay in starting but having it be an audience Q & A was not my favorite as I felt most of the questions were asked by people who wanted to hear themselves talk or too basic (though learning the moon smell resembles the scent of gunpowder was interesting)
All in all I'm glad I did it but felt it was not near what they advertised (though I really got the feeling with the numerous apologies from the bus driver/tour guide they felt horrible how it transpired beyond their control)
The Apollo 16 Event
So went out to Kennedy for the Apollo 16- 40th Anniversary Event today and it was interesting. Overall very chaotic and IMO not what was advertised but I did enjoy most of it.. We started out having to get redirected from the original meeting location to a non advertised one due to 2 other tours leaving at the same time from the same gate (no comment) and found out once onboard they had no idea where they were going and when we'd be picking up the astronaut as apparently things were changing by the minute which eventually included 30 min sitting near the causeway...
After driving around pad 39A to find a specific piece of grass finally the shuttle van pulled up with 2 of the 3 astronauts (one bus apparently picked theirs up earlier..) only to find out the astronaut we were supposed to get changed (which I was VERY happy about as as much as I would've liked to hear Walt Cunningham (Apollo 7) I much preferred Dick Gordon (Apollo 12- one of my fav missions)
And what was advertised as a tour hosted by the astronaut became a 'Q & A' on the way to the Apollo Center.. Hearing that the Saturn 5 inside the Center was 'Dick's Rocket' as it was Apollo 18 which would've been his chance to moonwalk was interesting though...
Tom Stafford (Apollo 10)
Once we arrived at the Apollo Center we were rushed to the Lunar Theatre (where we proceeded to sit for 20 min) for the Panel Discussion...
